thanks for the advice Adam however I have done all my own spannering on all my vehicles for the past 47 years, I'll not let anyone else near my cars and bikes especially garages.

This is the first Lambretta I've owned and worked on for 47 years and what little I knew in 1967 is long forgotten now so I've a lot to learn about it ,just like anything for the very first time. Things that seem very obvious to you are completely new to me at the moment and its going to be a steep learning experience which I know you guys are going to help me with.

If you do decide to put an indian electronic stator on it you wont go wrong if you change the and to the vespa ones. The indian ones are known to fail often.
No idea if the ones linked to are actually vespa ones mind you just did a quick search.

thanks for the links Eden. I hadn't realised that the stator for sale was an electronic version. It only cost a tenner so no big deal . I thought I could remove the coils and regulator from the 12v stator and fit them to my 6v stator
