Im currently doing one at the moment, its taking ages and costing a fcking fortune. It was supposed to be a cheap conversion as I had plenty of bits kicking about.

just got the sip catalogue in and they do a hub conversion from 8" to 10" does anyone have any experience of these?steviejambo wrote:much appreciate the info buddy but i havent started the strip down yet ! hopefully wednesday early finish and get started .the brains of my rebuild has been away at that a19's rally all weekend and he wants to be here when we start the strip down, its gonna be a long process so im not in a hurry still waiting on a nod for a t5 engine as well , i might start a wee post on my adventuresGLscoot wrote:Im pretty sure that it is a straight swap, but to be sure, measure from the bottom of the fork bearing to the top of the fork bearing cup on the frame and I will let you know. The GS forks will be more expensive and harder to find.steviejambo wrote:that is an impressive set up for sure, the sprint or gs option are they just a straight swap
it has the 4 wheel nuts, but i have been looking on the SIP catalogue and they do a conversion hub (not a rim)that jumps 8" up to 10" so that i can use my existing forks etc the only issue i can see is that my current set up has a single pivot brake shoe set up and if that remains in place the brake shoe would obviously have to be different! the pivot point wouldnt move so the brake shoe would need to be a a more oval shape to touch the inside of the drum i thinkGLscoot wrote:Steve
I have not done one of these conversions nor seen one so can't help there. Is your front wheel the one with the four centre nuts and solid wheels or the PX type wheel rims as there are two different conversions.
definately as carrying 2 spares would be a bitch lolGLscoot wrote:The problem I have with conversions/re-builds is I get to impatient and want to get things done asap and find I waste a lot of money buying something, where I actually want something else. My advice is keep looking for the 10" forks & hub as I think thats they way to go. You want your front hub to match the rear hub if you are fitting a P-range engine.
