No, the GT186 has a low "blow down" which made things quite critical if you have either 1. a dickie ignition 2. an expansion chamber. The GT200 has a higher exhaust timing so the typical change that was made for GT186 when used with an expansion is already in-built.

Does this kit have the same reed block and reeds as the 186?

Yes, and manifolds are inter-changable

AV266 X13 needle 122 main should be in the ballpark or very slightly rich. Try a 52 idle as well.

The AV268 atomiser has 14 months worth of practical testing running over all weather conditions. Right now our weather is crappy and cold, come spring and summer it will be a different story. I would strongly advise you to stay with AV268 through running in and into the Spring and Summer months.

If you want to make adjustments do so after you, personally, have had direct experience over a much broader range of weather conditions. This way you'll be able to make a much more informed decision the the previous knowledge of fuel consumption and your riding style.

Cold weather increases air density and weakens the mixture, so it will run even richer in warm weather. It's been my experience that the AV268 atomiser is too rich for most applications except a very highly tuned Monza/TS1. The X7 needle tends to have a seizure inducing weak spot under load at just over 1/2 throttle, the X13 is much safer, at the moment the weak spot is being masked by the AV268.

To be safe have it dynoed rather than trust a stranger on a website though, I'm confident that this will bear out what I've said.

This set up has been run on the road in all conditions for some considerable time also tested on the dyno. This is the generic starting point for running in which is where this engine is right now. You do realise this is a GT200 Big Block not a GT186.

I have one of these kits to fit for a customer
what make are the rings supplied with the kit ?
why should the crinkled anti-rattle ring not be fitted ?
I have left these out on GT186 kits as the ring felt too tight with it fitted [and have also found broken ones under the ring], but the big block kit felt quite loose out of the box for a new top end, so I was thinking the crinkled ring can be used...
I understand that these were originally fitted to the RDs to avoid piston rattle on cold startup
I shall leave it out as that's what has been recommended by the manufacturer, but just wondered why, and why it is supplied with the kit if it is not to be used...
thanks
