? to be honest mate its about 20yrs since i've even looked at a points flywheel but when mr b did the vep conv at beed speed he just used any bretta boss (gen gp i think) amd as the coil part of the stator is a straight swap i dont think the inner diameter is differnt i always thougt the points were opened n closed by the flywheel magnets rotation ?

The supplier has responded and is sending out a replacement kit. I will compare the two kits, and post up any obvious changes / differences. If nothing else, this might save someone else from a headache.

To be fair to the dealer, he did send a replacement flywheel, however, the same problem persisted. I drilled out the flywheel boss and replaced it with an old L.I. Electronic one I had in the garage and it lines up 100% correct. I bought some 12:9 high tensile bolts from a local supplier and used some thread lock for good measure. Flywheel now fitted, and timing set..the bike starts second kick every time ;)

It seems that there is yet another batch of these in the market as the supplier disclosed that he has just sold 40 sets via ebay. They are fitted with electronic flywheel bosses, however, they are drilled out and riveted to the old points position.

Lesson learned by me !
