Looking at it fitted, is there any chance the lock can be slid over the top of the stand when the scooter is taken off the stand ?

I don't think that's quite possible because of the stand being hard against the strut, but obviously a padlock with a fairly short loop/snug fit is needed

Getting the right sized padlock is critical to it's success. I used one slightly too big and it's possible to push it off the stand and still wheel it away, though it wouldn't be rideable as the stand would hit the road with a slight lean.
