Very good info there Darrell 8-)

I`ll give that a try.

I phoned MB today and it seems that their website is lying somewhat as they havn`t got any race cranks in stock and they havn`t got any dates for when the 60 x 110 will be ready.

What other options do i have?

I suppose the biggest dissadvantage of living outside the EU, is the fact that very few dealers (especialy uk based, the Germans are ok), can be arsed deducting vat.

Norwegian VAT is 25%, so If I press buy on the scootererotica website, I have to pay 8% in toll, + 25% VAT on both the product AND postage.

So it works out like this.

Image

£390 for crank,
£25 toll handeling charges
£97,50 VAT
£39 toll
=£551,50 !

The money is one thing.... I bought a seat from Gori 5 weeks ago and the customs have still not sent it on because of missing documents. Normaly I would phone them (the customs folks) and sort it but as Gori are not answering my emails, I havn`t got a tracking number to go by, so it will sit there until Gori send them the right papers, or it goes too long and they bin/auction it off and i sit here £300 out of pocket.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to fly over for a shopping spree and stick it in your checked baggage?

Yes it would, and I did once buy 2 motors off Andy Francis when the boat used to go to Newcastle.

Problem these days is that there isn`t any direct flights from my area to the uk so wouldn`t work out any cheeper unless i was going on a SERIOUS shop til you drop, trip.

As I mentioned, the Germans deduct vat and have cheap postage rates, so I only end up with 10% on top of the normal price which I don`t mind.

Haha! Yes you did get stopped but thats only because you look dodgy ;)

All the same, I think the guys had to pay about £600 in toll that time with the help of some devalued recipts so it was well worth it all the same.

I realy miss that ferry and think my garage would be full to the brim with lammies if it still ran...
