True but if the restriction was the feeder hole, then you might need a smaller main

The flow through the main jet will be affected if the float bowl level is changed. The higher fuel level increases the static head pressure at the main jet. Otherwise all remains the same regardless of any other feed hole size which should already be bigger than the main jet.
The "static head" increase created by a larger float, (of what, perhaps 2mm?) would be miniscule, not really anywhere near enough to justify a smaller jet as the pressure difference would be negligible, you're talking fractions of 1psi.

What do you mean by bigger float? heavier (lower petrol level)? or bigger and more floaty (higher petrol level)? You can buy all sorts for most carbs, as it has so much affect on the jetting!
On the average carb even, full flat, out wide open, max rpm, differential pressure accross a typical main jet is less than one psi!
