i use the barrel, that way both the surfaces are the same, the top of the barrel needs to be flat too so why only do the head

I was going to do the barrel too.I was going to put permanent marker on both mating surfaces and lap them both. The marker should show any high or low spots. How do you use the barrel to do both?

i lap the head on the barrel using some 1500 grit paste
