my 1965 LI150 Special is also totally original- I didn't want to alter it in any way but did want a tad more power.
All I did was bore an old TV175 cylinder out to 64mm and put matching piston in with a "186" head. Kept the original 18mm delly and fitted a 42mm Clubman
Externally it appears standard but has quite a bit more power ( I'm no speed merchant!!) Have kept the old top end for the future should I ever sell it.
Oh, I also replaced an inner front brake cable- apart from that totally bog standard and untouched.

They are £438 from MB.Elite-225 wrote:Fair comment.. but £495 a bit steep for a new untested kit i think .. my advice would be.. wait on a bit mate!!
A slightly modified version of the UK kit thats been out for a good while.
Compared to most brands MB/BGM stuff is a high % of good quality stuff that fits and works as opposed to stuff that doesnt.
Ill be getting the 225 version when i'm sorted.

CakeAndArseParty
Hi
i now it has only had one owner since 1966, He bought it new and comuted to work untill 1982 when he parked it for the winter and never brought it out again.
The paint is battered since it was once stolen back in 1977. he got it back and continued to use it. He said he never opened the engine up not even once, never messed with anything than changing tyres. and lubricating wires.
I guess I will not know until I open her up.
since I have one standard 200cc and a rebored tv175 I now want to try some tuning but I dont want a rev monster or something living on the edge. I want to be able to cover som distances before changing pistons or anything. The delly is snall I know but it is laying around so I think why not.
Corados set up sugestions sound sound enough.
Or maybe the tried and tested mugello or imola? The casa version also exists.

If I wanted to kit a 150 and wanted a Nicasil coated cylinder for it's perceived benefits [starts another fire] but to work with standard engine parts I'd opt for a Casa kit. In it's basic trim it's far less tuned [read the holes are closer to std cylinder sizes] so more likely to be suitable to std cranks, 20mm carbs etc. In fact that seemed to be one of it's major selling points and was the brief behind it's concept as there were already numerous high powered kits to fit the small block. The down side to Casa kits is the lack of available supply of kits and pistons. A pal has one and I had to get a replacement piston from Italy as I couldn't get one for him in the UK. He blew his up but he ran a big carb and revvy exhaust despite being advised otherwise. The MB kits have been around for a few years with good feedback but they were pricey compared to Mugellos, MB in collaboration with Scooter Center seemed to have gone the "Dyson" route of designed in UK built in Far East.
Err not sure where I got the £465 price from as it is indeed £438, slightly more than a Muggy but if you put them side by side I'm sure you'd think the MB one was higher quality, due mainly to it's CNC head and extras parts, like stud kit that are included.
If I wanted a balls out kit .......... I did so I got an RB 20 and had it further tuned for sprinting. One day I'll stick it in a frame.

Thank you all for good replies.
It looks as it boils down to 3 options.
SIL 175 cylinder kit
Casa Lambretta 185 kit
Mbbgm rt 190
The all will require a new exhaust.
The rt probably needs the electrics converted and a new crank plus seals/bearings to suit.
They all comply with the 25phbl I have laying around.
It all comes down to cost then.
Time to think this through!

I put a Mugello 186 on my GP with a 26mm and Clubman and thought it went really well-a really good fun ride. When the Mugello nipped a ring I thought I'd try an RT but spent an age trying to get feedback but realised feedback was either 'I bought X so X is brilliant' or from people that hadn't actually had first hand experience. I'd bought quite a few bits of MB and the service was always good so thought I'd take the gamble and go RT. From the way the kit is presented and what is included it immediately made me think I'd made the right choice but having now done a few hundred miles on it I can genuinely say it s brilliant-the mid range pick up is considerably stronger than the Muggie and it revs very smoothly. Basically for a small block kit I am absolutely delighted with how it went to gether nd most importantly how it goes. I'm going to try it with a 30mm Dellorto next then may look for a better pipe.
