Check you needle/valve jet. If its running a 200, change to a 300.

if it was reliable before, why not go back to your old set up?

because the simonini exhaust is, in my opinion, a potentially deadly piece of crap. poorly designed and manufactured, the rear holding tab weld broke off and the exhaust pivoted down and locked my back wheel. could have been goodnight vienna had it not happened at 10mph. hence the new type of exhaust. it still runs reliably, just not with the same performance as before.

Update: Still not stripped the carb down to check needle valve or if there is/isn't a fast flow tap but when I went on the ride out last night it pretty much behaved itself under "normal" riding conditions. Other than being slightly reluctant to start when warm but thank the lord for electric start.. Which is good news as far as I'm concerned and I can actually ride it with some confidence while I plan the next maintenance / modification day on it :)
