well i think a disadvantage would be that if you got the gearing wrong its gonna be expencive to change it

From a changeability perspective I think that might depend if they've been smart enough to engineer it so the cog diameters are the same but change the teeth numbers and profiles, which is what I believe has been done with the cyclone, but I think you can safely bet it will be expensive ...

well i am not a fan of chains +guides or belts .I drive Lambrettas and a iIaljet dragster and had very bad experiences with both ,but come to think of it i blew up
a vespa cush drive that locked the back end up solid at speed ,Fook me looking back i am either cursed or lucky ?!?!

The center gear is actually under no stress at all - it spins freely on a bearing. There's more stress on that mounting area with a chain tensioner in place.

I'm sure someone has tried this before but Vittorio says he's had this idea floating around in his head for several years. It's an interesting R&D project at the very least and often leads to new ideas. Can't fault him for that. Doesn't mean it's coming to market. The point of direct drive is to eliminate the power loss that a slack chain would give.

so as long as your capable of adjusting your chain teshioners ,taking up the slack by regular servicing and maintainance etc ...no advantage then ?
