After taking the clutch cover off, I noticed that the clutch arm is very stiff, after freeing it up slightly, should the spring be returning it? cause mine doesn't, this I think is the problem!
I'm assuming here, that the clutch arm can come out of the cover, but how?

Spring should return the arm. Unclip the spring (whatch your fingers) and the arm will pull out, keep an eye on the small lever which pushes on the brass plunger or you may lose it. Give everything a good clean grease and reassemble.

Well.........I eventually got the clutch arm out of the clutch cover, and found one of the two o'ring's had split and chewed up, causing the arm to be very stiff, hence not returning when the clutch was pulled in. Cleaned, found new o'ring, greased and re assembled. Now all seems ok, but will test tomorrow. Cheers for everyone's advice.

Did you check the brass plunger had not mushroomed and the pressure plate was ok. If the pressure plate on the clutch is very smooth and you can feel a groove on the plate, you will need to replace both plunger and pressure plate. You can test this by depressing the kickstart, if there's no resistance, you will need to replace these parts.
