really hard to answer this one,

I rarely ride in town and when i do I,m usually a real hooligan
both will win a traffic light drag race, and up to 30/40 mph just about any scooter that is jetted right will do the job all be it in a slightly different way. the biggest factors for a town bike for me would be clutch, gear ratios and brakes and kit after these three considerations. That said the Avanti delievers low and strong. compared to the Bog standard TS which kicks in higher in the rev range. I,m guessing the Avanti would give a clutch an easier life.
maybe i,m not the most qualified to answer this as just i dont ride in town that often.

I also have a Rapido 225 with a standard Indian gearbox and to be honest that is lot better to ride around town on. The Avanti (with the tall gearbox) is ok, but the Rapido seems a lot quicker and more responsive.

I suppose it's how you want to ride around town but my front wheel lifts when i change into second..........

That is a result of short gearing rather than the kit.

There both good kits if set up well, I have ridden both but at present TS1 cylinders are on shelf for a rainy day!

Rode TS1 for many years and can be very reliable, even putting in less fuel than a bog standard 200 italian motor when tooting to euro rallies.

I often ride to rallies these days with a TS1 thats been together over 20 years (1 barrell/4 pistons/reline) and only chucking out 16 hp but it puts the power down well and was sometimes difficult to catch with previous RT230 kit.

I prefer the Avanti although tuned and not without aggro on way (other components) it always felt like it had more grunt, my recent pleasure is sitting in fast lane just edging past vehicles waiting for the "are you mad look" then just winding it up and zooming off into the distance
