I too know of one that has changed hands a few times, each time the new owner thinking, "Good lights and factory fitted equipment, just how problematic could it be?!", then sheared the taper of the crank and sold it to the next owner, who has thought, "Good lights and factory fitted equipment, just how problematic could it be?!"... repeat until bored.
I've told this over and over again, even to one pal who bought one of the last factory assembled Lince 200 motors that Bedlam got hold of a number of years back. He too thought, ""Good lights and factory fitted equipment, just how problematic could it be?!", then phoned me from the hard shoulder one day to laugh at him being stuck with a bike that was no longer connected to his flywheel! Oh, how we laughed (lol).

Hmmm............ Seems to me I can stick with the LI taper crank and use a late, lighter, Ducati flywheel with the Motoplat stator. Or use a GP crank and stator with a late flywheel. Decisions, decisions.

Who said you can use any Ducati flywheel, early or late, with the Motoplat stator? I doubt this to be the case as the Motoplat electronic stator is unique in Lambretta terms.
I can say with 100% certainty that you cannot use a Motoplat points stator with a Ducati flywheel as the diameter of laminate core of stator, and corresponding diameter of flywheel are different.

Damn! There goes that idea.
It was just a mad idea I thought might be worth trying. But if that's the case I'll just go with the Italian set up.
