cdi, HT lead and spark plug....try changing them one at a time.
i take it you've got decent compression ??
stator plate could be an option...
any "funny" noises when kicking it over ??

just tried bumping it and its realy easy to push.. it doesent lock up at walkin pace and i didnt have to jump on it to get any drive.. so could worn rings stop it from startin???? and new plug is bone dry after i poured fuel down the craNK case

I've had the same problems with my PX. Changed carb three times, stator plate , CDI unit, petrol three times, waiting on a new switch. I have squirted fuel down every hole there is, tried jumping starting and nothing. Sparking like mad, fuel spitting out the carb so everything is working as it should be. I am putting it down to the s**t fuel, i think the ethanol is causing huge problems. Either the carb slide is worn, I didn't change that when I changed the carbs. I also questioned the piston rings, but was told it wouldn't have any resistance when I kicked it over. I'm now changing the carb slide to see if that helps. I will then change the piston rings.

Sorry my set up is
DR180 kit
PHBH 26mm carb
Simonini Exhaust
All of this was working fine, scooter sat for 30mins. Travelled 500yards at it just died, felt like fuel starvation straight away.

Going on the given fact you have a spark etc (have you changed plug in case it's a dodgy one, even from new not unheard of)
Blocked pilot jet/ stale fuel/ shite ethanol unleaded/water in the fuel (ethanol is hydroscopic so sitting around in tanks for a few weeks will absorb water) Try cleaning jets and carb out , and change fuel for fresh super unleaded such as BP ultimate or esso super, or total excellium . Yeh it's 5-10p more a litre but that's not a lot in a scooter.
If your spark is a funny colour i.e quite white rather than blue-ish (i think) that means you could have a cdi ,or LT coil (on the stator) fault . Someone else may be able to tell you how to read faults with a meter at the wire ends ,what the voltages should read but otherwise if you havent got a meter you can just swap like for like until the fault goes.
Just in case it is and you don't know the burnt out one in the pic is the LT coil ,they don't have to be burnt out to fail and they rarely do but they are easy to change ,it's a case of de-soldering one wire and bending some tabs up to lift it off . The electronic ignition pick-up on the left of that can fail too, and cause mystery cutting out . Both these parts are usually around 20 quid each and it's worth getting genuine.
Worn rings will make power drop and starting more difficult gradually but they are not a sudden fault , a scooter will still start with worn rings .
All this probably counts for you as well GLscoot.

if you can push it with very little resistance that points to lack of compression. I'ld whip the head off and have a look inside.
Wouldn't have thought worn rings would "just happen"....hole in piston, broken/missing ring would cause a sudden stop..
If you're edging down the carb' side (jets, seals, worn slide ....plenty of options !!)......try a different carb'.

thanks a lot for the help fellas ...1st as for spark it is a good blue spark im thinking fuel now ..ive got the head off and the piston its self is fine all but a little bit coked up ill try fuel 1st then rings ..altough i have noticed fuel in the floats correct me if im wrong but that shouldnt happen but would that stop it from startin

If you have fuel in the float/floats it will flood it badly and could well stop it from starting. Take filter off and try and start it when its altogether. If its flooding it should spit back out of the carb like mad while kicking it over. Check the plug after a few kicks and if its sodden wet its definitely flooding.
Also the feeling of lack of compression can be down to flooding. For example try kicking over a dry engine then an engine that is a bit flooded and the difference is immense.
Saying that, you mentioned earlier that spark plug was dry which points to lack of fuel
If you have fuel in the float this needs addressing anyway so get a new float and start again.

ok ..ive put the head back on and theres plenty of compresion .. had a good look at the spark yes it is blue but doesant seem to be sparking all the time and in the right place ..and now dont spark at all .and ive tried 3 different plugs... i no the stator is perfect (looks any way) :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :flaming:
