Issue with stainless tank ?
well we installed my long range tank yesterday but have found it doesnt fit rite the filler hole on the tank doesnt sit central under petrol flap its at least 0.75inch forward to much . i thought about removing rear tank rubbers but worried this would split tank after a while , i bought it from beedspeed and gonna bell them today anyone else had issues ??? with this i cant even fit petrol spiller plastic bit
You generally have to play around with the tank rubbers to get them to fit how you want. Also watch where your petrol tap comes out (it can be too close to the engine mount sometimes).
The petrol tank plastic spil tray should be flexible enough to fit once the tank is positioned correctly.
Just requires some swearing and adjusting the rubbers usually

I spent two days trying to get a larger tank to fit and get the filler and tap on properly, many cut fingers off the straps eventually gave up when I found the filler cap wouldn't go on either...

well after taking measurments and few calls to beedspeed the tank hasnt been made rite
so they are sending courior and new tank tuesday gutted

If you must have a stainless tank clean it out and then seal it using Petseal or a similar product
this is the only tank to fit nice and easy, CHROME WILL NOT GET YOU HOME! as my dad used to say 'thal larn lad'

I used the 13ltr stainless tank from beedys and didnt have any problems at all. I have now got a stainless twin tank/toolbox conversion that I purchased from Vietnam...been using that for the last 4 year and no problems at all. All I did was flush it out before fitting.


Couldn't imagine not running a fuel filter. Just make sure it has a nice flow rate, clean it out once in awhile, and you shouldn't have a problem.

oh joy, was so excited last night to get a bargain stainless tank, and read this just now LOL
just put the camera at work inside and its is quite alarming how much muck is in there, I will use petrol or thinners and give a right good swill around. but the comments about fit do worry me.
I got a TSR one brand new boxed from a guy cheap, maybe Im about to find out why it was cheap

heavy is good, heavy is reliable, and if it does fail, hit them with it!!!

Nothing to worry about....you should always clean out a new tank to make sure its got no crap in it. I have had more crap in my original metal tank than the stainless one...I put an inline filter on and it starved it of fuel, so I just drain tank and clean filter every now and again.tonydevon wrote:oh joy, was so excited last night to get a bargain stainless tank, and read this just now LOL

spoke to alan at beedspeed to find out whole batch they had delivered where made wrong on the jig . so in the end just gone for standard size stainless tank and nice inline filter will be fitting this new one this evening
