The stator is the same (albeit on a different back-plate), and while I haven't tried it I'd be extremely surprised if it didn't work.

When you say all of the holes don't line up, do enough of them line up to get the boss central or did you have to do a lot of jiggling around to get it correct?
Also I presume you needed to locktite the nuts but did you weld them as well.
Basically what I'm asking is was yours on a tuned motor and how is it holding up with the way you fixed the nuts and bolts.
Sorry for all the daft questions.
Cheers.
Actually just thought of a not so daft question.
What do you do to hold the flywheel if you have taken away the varitronic boss with the large nut shape on it.
There are no holes to put a normal holder in once the sil boss is on there, or have you got away with holding the flywheel with a screwdriver to screw the puller in (being careful not to break the plastic fins) then using two spanners on the puller?
Cheers

Where would these holes be drilled, I would have thought the 8 bolts use up all the space on the boss, and I wouldn't want to make it weaker by drilling more holes.
or in reverse
leave 2 bolts longer ,double nut them and drill 2 holes in the disc tool
when you take off the cheese boss the big hole it leaves is a perfect fit for the new boss, its spot on in the middle,, its just the smaller holes that dont all line up,, as i remember a few are dead in line, but the rest are a bit out and a dremel sorted them,,When you say all of the holes don't line up, do enough of them line up to get the boss central or did you have to do a lot of jiggling around to get it correct?
its on the sprinter,, done a ton many times over a standing quarter,, nyloc nuts and thread lockBasically what I'm asking is was yours on a tuned motor and how is it holding up with the way you fixed the nuts and bolts.
i got a large pair of stilsons that bite on the nuts around the boss,, works a treatWhat do you do to hold the flywheel if you have taken away the varitronic boss with the large nut shape on it.
excellent thanks for your advice, got a boss on order and will give it a gotarmac tickler wrote:when you take off the cheese boss the big hole it leaves is a perfect fit for the new boss, its spot on in the middle,, its just the smaller holes that dont all line up,, as i remember a few are dead in line, but the rest are a bit out and a dremel sorted them,,When you say all of the holes don't line up, do enough of them line up to get the boss central or did you have to do a lot of jiggling around to get it correct?
