[quote="WINTERMODEL150"]Fit a 5899-2 atomiser ,a 200 slide with no cut out in it,48 pilot, and anything from a 118-123 main jet all this will work if the engines built correctly with no air leaks and is timed up correctly.

If you use the 150 slide (no cut out) then it will seize up at cruising speed (quarter throttle) after 5-10 miles probably going up a hill when the engines runs at its hottest.

Wintermodel. Is this what's happening to me?
i did a steady short run of about 10-12 miles yesterday and at one point in just died!! i was doing around 35 ish on a straight in 4th.
Pulled over, kicked it back up and off i went again??
I wonderd if it might be a fuel issue as the tank was quite low.
Plug colour is a light brown, not quite chocolate just a bit lighter.

Thanks.

You need to check and change those jets as suggested by me and others first then give it good run again.

Fit a fast flow tap and make sure your tanks clean inside .

Ok,
Got some new jets from Rayspeed and fitted them. I asked for a 200 slide, what they sent was one with a cut out?
Which was the same one I already had in it.
The result was: Straight away the tickover speed was a lot higher.
Seemed to run ok at first but it still bogs down at certain throttle settings.
But the worst thing is it has cut out on me today 5 times.
Its very tempramental and doesn't always do it, but it's usually as I back off the throttle when going downhill. Not much warning but it dies quickly and I have to pull over.
It still won't go over 40 mph, at that speed their is still some throttle left but it sounds like it's being strangled and is maxed out at 40.

Tank is pretty clean and I'm using an external filter as well.
No crud in the fuel bowl.
Done 25 miles in short stints today, plug slightly darker, nearer chocolate brown.
Dropped gearbox oil when I got home, not difference in engine noise.

Hope all this helps with a diagnosis.

Thanks.

Hi, the 150 slide has a large cut out in one side and the 200 slide has a very small cut out so it sounds like the jetting s correct or somewhere near right .

It's so hard to diagnose faults on a forum but here goes......is it electronic ignition? If you have then you may have stator plate problems,Have you got air leaks? Is the rear brake binding? Is the choke cable adjusted correctly?

This is interesting. Im running a 175 with 20mil dellorto standard exhaust .
I bought 112 and there abouts jets expecting to put an expansion pipe on but fittet i think a 106 ,.
Atomiser and idle jet also as reccomended . It wouldnt tick over and my slide was worn to feck. I ordered a new one from scoot restorations and i cant remember wether cut out is smaller than original ??

It runs nice / starts 1st 2nd kick but has to be warm to tick over and idle adjust is right out.

I fully appriciate that it's hard to diagnose however, yours and the other contributetors points are useful and very welcome.
Ok, brakes aren't binding, just done first mot after resto, and the choke works properly. Don't think iv'e got air leak, that's why I dropped the gearbox oil today. I fitted a new electronic kit during the resto, flywheel, stator, loom etc.
Spoke to a guy at rayspeed today for advice and he said a clubman is the way to go.
I'm tempted to remove the scootrs exhaust and just see how it runs without one fitted but the noise is horrendous!!!
Got hold of a 18 mm delly SH today, it's in real state and I know it's small but I'm interested to see if it make a difference.
Will report back.

Cheers

Its only my opinion but you need to at least run a 20mm delly jetted to a tv175 series 3 spec, swap the cdi for a known good one first.
