It's a 3 plate cork, the new one I fitted was a Newfren standard kit.
The best I had it was started it up tried it a couple of times in the workshop and seemed ok just needed to tighten the cable up as it was biting to close to the grip, but thought I'd take it out to check the gears were engaging ok, rode up and down the track when I pulled back into the workshop it was dragging bad again, adjusted the cable up to see if I could stop it dragging but no go.
I would say from cold it starts dragging in a couple of hundred yards and a few minutes running.
When I took the plate out today I rode it up and down the track just to see and it was fine, put it on the bench put the plate back in took it off started it and it was dragging straight away, so it doesn't take much to make it drag.
Clutch Drag
if its that much chew on, you can get a complete new P200 clutch for £46 from Beedspeed. after buying corks, steels, springs...+ your time, its easier to buy a new clutch and chuck it in. thats what i do now, after having clutches in and out ten times to fix a 30-bob bit, its not worth the hassle.

Steels warped......... check them on a sheet of glass or mirror.
Also are the hole in basket and backplate lined up??? If they're not the springs will sit wrong and drag all day long!!!

Just had a thought. You don't by chance have a rogue spring in there that is stronger than the rest?

Checked the steels and corks on a marble slab I use it's perfectly level, the hole in the backplate and basket line up, I've tried 2 sets of springs, checked the height on them all.
I'm prob going to get him a complete new clutch it's just I like to know whats causing a problem rather than just replacing things, but I've just about run out of ideas, it's been about 10 years since I've done a Vespa clutch but I know my way around them now

Had the clutch apart again and noticed that if I line the hole in the basket and the hole on the driven plate up the springs sit slightly off line, you can only see it if the spring cups are removed, moved the plate around untill I got the spings straight rebuilt the clutch and there's no drag, but when you release the clutch the scooter jerks/lurches and you can hear a grinding/rubbing noise at the same time. it only does it in 1st and you change through the other gears fine.
I checked a old basket and driven plate and it's exactly the same

Springs are supposed to be slightly offset to take up snatch.

Cheers,So used to doing Lamby's I thought they had to be straight
Took the clutch back out tonight, put it back with the holes aligned just to see if the noise and snatch had gone and expecting it still to drag. but nope no drag and all working fine nice and quiet, still needs a good road test as I could only run it up and down the track tonight. so fingers crossed it's sorted
