Ive always junk my bottom chain guards

Have done for years had no detrimental effect with 10s of thousands of miles riding

I think there is more probability of a guard breaking up on the higher powered scoots we have
nowerdays especially as chain stretches really as described by above

I never fit a bottom chain guide in any engine and havent done so for years. To date in all the engines ive done not one problem.

The lower guide will have a minor role when throttling off and the engine starts braking, especially if the chain is a bit on the loose side, it could prevent damage to the lower casing.

Of course you can disregard the above if the chain has been set tensioned correctly. New chains will stretch, so I suppose it depends if you're the type of person that thinks nothing of opening up the chaincase to re-tension after a bedding in period or if you just intend to forget about it maybe it's better to leave the guide in ...
