i,d at least use a new Asso piston...........

There's the thing. I'm using 4% mix i.e 2 jugs per 5 litres & I thought it looked dry, the spark plug wasn't wet at all. I'm taking the flywheel off & getting the timing sorted (electronic) & getting the barrel honed lightly this week.

Not sure on getting a new piston. Dont want to if I dont HAVE to obviously.

If I'd replaced a piston every time mine seized I'd be skint!

if i'd replaced a piston every time i nipped up then the bank of england would be skint also,this is the art of knowing what can and cant be done,if you have no funds then you only have one choice ,file the high spots off the piston hone the barrel to attempt to clear all the alloy deposited on the walls and give it more clearance !
i nipped mine up going to 'brid' twice and three times on the way home and the piston was an 'asso' so have done this and i can now race it hard (cast 225cc).

theres no way you can clean up a piston that has siezed to the standard of a new one , as knowledge seid next time you might be overtaking a lorry , whats costs more a piston or your life . i bet when you clean your piston up your gonna use the same clip that holds the gudgen pin in aswell arnt you

i dont know what you will pay for a new piston ,but the chances are it will still be tight in the bore and will seize again and again and yes it might be when you are overtaking a lorry!
when i first started playing with scooters money wasn't just scarce there wasn't any so you have to learn ,changing every f$$king thing including circlips isn't the answer!

theres NO chance that a new piston is going to be too tight in a bore that has been run for a couple of years................then honed out/cleaned up

sean if you hone out the pot why do want to fit a new piston?just because you can!

i would get a new piston then get barrel honed to suit . seems the most sensible idea to me
