Hi Jordan , try and buy the best you can afford it will last you in the longer term, and hopefully not by the side of a motorway in feb in the snow lol!
MB clutch in my ts1, changed the plates recently ( 5 thick surflex and steels with MB springs) after 2 odd years of hard riding and couple euro rallys a lot of motorway as well, didn't have to change them as were in really good nick but hey ho they'll do for a spare if i ever need em.
Also ask the lads that are doing the lcgb championship or people who have done this in the past such as Toots or Steve Airey etc as they are running ts1's with at a guess higher bhp than yours so if they can take the abuse sure it'll be fine for rapido set up.

id say its more to do with the components your using and them not matching up properly i dont have time to go into the ins an outs but theres plenty on this and the lcgb about this and adam winston has alot of knowlegde and input into some of the threads i have never used more than 4 plates in any clutch inc a few 240ss and a gp4 and gp6 race engine 25yrs ago more recently my tsl ran a 4 plate with vespa springs on the outside albe it in a 5 plate crown wheel and all my other engines used additional springs or proper uprated ones from taffspeed or kegra i have used original italian parts mainly from LI150 scooters and the only modifications were to the crownwheel to allow a better separation of plates and i have always used a gp side case and modified the center part of the clutch to accept the brass plunger the 240ss and race engines all ran 16t front sprockets on li150 gearboxs the ts ran sx 200

Haha, that wouldn't be good... Be a bit chilly waiting for recovery :freak:
I had a long chat with Steve at the stone roses gig about clutches (didn't go for the music LOL). He said a four plate should be good enough. Im going to blame it being poorly adjusted, TBH as it was dragging like mad going through town before I could pull over and sort it out. It survived harknott and wrynoes no problem. But I am definitely tempted to change gearbox and run a taller front sprocket, as many people I have spoke to don't like the 15t front sprocket as it give the clutch a harder time? and I will also invest in some higher quality springs.
Do people think that my rapido would pull an Li150 gearbox with 17/46 sprockets? It does pull forth on the SX200 box pretty well.
cheers for all the input so far, its much appreciated.

How different would a 16t to a 17t front sprocket be in real world riding?

Servetakid, I must have just missed you at the stone roses as I was chatting to Steve and baz just before they came on! I run a rapido with a 30mm and ancilotti. 16/46 with li 150 box. 4 surflex b plates, mb springs and 2.5mm top plate. Lovely smooth clutch and still like new after 4k miles of general abuse. If you get it set up well, I'm sure yours will be up to the job without spending fortunes.

Thanks for the advice, how well does your scooter pull forth gear? Im still debating going for a 17t or a 16t front sprocket. Both have their pros and cons and i am just figuring out what to do.

Mine pulls in 4th from low down without the need to drop into 3rd and thrash it. Everyone to their own but I don't mind trading a little top-end for a more relaxed ride. If it was me I'd go with the 16 and see how it goes.

+1 I was toying with the idea of running 17X46 on my rapido 225 on an LI 150 box but have stayed on 16X46,nice and smoooooth, don't have to thrash the tits off it in 3rd,pulls well in 4th as said even at low speeds.delly 30 & and 48mm clubman.

I use the Readspeed 6 plate conversion in my TS1 with Indian GP2 box and 19/46 set up.
Clutch was about £300 about 5 years ago and I haven't changed anything in it, steel and cork plates and springs are still perfect and it still works perfectly as you would expect from a sedate rider like me
Used it in all 3 of the RB's and the TS with no issues.
Each to their own mate but get the best you can afford and if you don't think it's what you really want, don't rush just save some more cash and it'll be worth it in the end.
Cheers
