There's a list somewhere of types of fuel which do not contain ethanol as yet, esso super and bp ultimate were among them.

Here's the list, it came from a classic car racing website a year or two ago so could be out of date but anyway worth a look

BP Ethanol added at 5% to unleaded petrol at all sites across the UK.
BP Ultimate (super unleaded) does not have Ethanol added, except in the South West of England.
Esso Ethanol is added at 5% to unleaded petrol at most sites in the UK.
Esso Super Unleaded petrol does not contain Ethanol, except in the South West of England (Devon & Cornwall)
Shell -Shell has repeatedly refused to answer the question. It is therefore an assumption only, that all Shell petrol should be considered to contain 5% Ethanol.
Texaco Ethanol is added at 5% to unleaded petrol.
Texaco Super Unleaded petrol does not contain Ethanol.
Total Ethanol is not added to any Total fuel (including standard unleaded petrol). Except in the North West and South East of England.

murco currently has the same stance as total as per mail below

I can confirm that Murco does not provide petrol which includes Ethanol at this moment in time, however you can expect the industry as a whole to be E5 (5% Ethanol) by 2013-2014 which the government has requested.

Any Murco garage in the south west / east of England and Wales will be Ethanol free but we do supply the majority of our garages in the Midlands and North West from a non-Murco terminals so I would expect these garages to have Ethanol in the petrol but please double check with the site before fuelling your car/motorcycle.

Total Ethanol is not added to any Total fuel

This is my local fuel stop (2 mins from home) and hence why I have had no fuel problems.. well done that man very good information

The cost of ethanol is going to go through the roof as this gov't mandated "demand" increases at the same time as crop failures are reported all over the world due to the turbulent weather this year. People in developing countries will be facing hunger and at worst, famine, as more and more crops are converted to fuel for new cars (not our scooters) instead of being used as food. What's needed is to get people to STOP driving cars, sitting in traffic jams, using 1 ton and more of steel to get from point A to B. Get them onto the trains or on to motorbikes and scooters.

Instead, gov't mandated ethanol use is only directing profits to AgraBusiness who lobby heavily for its use. Nowhere is there talk of fuel and energy conservation. It's always drive more and newer cars on "greener" fuel (fuel that can't be stored due to its hydroscopic nature). Have an older car or motorbike? Too bad. Go to the bank and get a new car loan.

Quite a few of my friends have jobs which they admit they could easily do from home, but say they wouldn't even if offered. To me it sounds like bliss. Get up when you like, slob around in your scanties dribbling jam down your singlet, tapping away at a key board now and again. Even do something productive occasionally. Whats not to like?
I realise some jobs you have to turn up for - coal mining for example, unless you live in a gulag. But am I the only one who would have given up the joys of commuting and dealing with overpaid imbeciles that pass on the inane instructions from above. Well I guess you would still get that, but at least you can do stupid sh1t when there's nowt good on tv.
Ethanol is is the work of the devil and the spawn of a vicious monopoly capitalistic plot. There are other alchohol fuels, more suitable for IC engines like butanol. Ethanol has lower calorific value, so you burn more volume for a given amount of work, it is unstable as Kev mentioned plus it needs special materials to contain it as it is capable of destroying quite a range of previously used fuel system materials.

Your friends must be nuts. Working from home is bliss!
