Darrell Taylor wrote:the nk pipes have a short silencer with no additional silencing aids like double skinning or extended baffe tubes so are quite a noisy pipe ,a change of silencer could sort your problem which is as you say it sounds like its working hard/ revving

as muppet says the change of pipe wont change the rpm/mph relationship but does change the operating range at what rpm power is made at so before it might be 15bhp at 6000 now it might be 18 bhp at 6000 but if 6000 before was 60mph ,6000 on new pipe is still 60mph
if it feels like it would pull another gear then u could try a tooth bigger on the front to relax the rpm a bit
Ok Darrell, I 'think' I understand  , so are you saying that by me changing to say a Taffy or ADS3, that it may seem like my bike's not revving as much just because of the sound/tone, due to better builld quality, when in fact it is still working as hard?
As regards your 16T front sprocket suggestion, that sounds quite appealing, as i'm 11 & half stone wet through & rarely ride 2 up, so even though the box would be taller, pulling through the range shouldn't be a problem. Don't s'pose you'd know the final ratio with that set up do you? (sx200 box, 16x46).

Andy P, clutch is ok i'm sure. I Put some new Surflex B's & GT springs in it no more than 6 weeks ago, seems fine. I'm defo leaning towards a different pipe or Darrell's 16T front sprocket idea.

Thanks.

rolling radius of tyre maybe someone could tell you a mph/rpm figure if not its just a close guess; my guess 1O.5mph= 1OOOrpm,

Aproximately 11 mph per 1000 rpm on 3.50 x 10 tyres on 16/46 (4.5) Against 10 mph per 1000 rpm on 15/46 (4.8)

I reckon you'd be better with 16/47 (4.6) for a touch under 11 mph per 1000 rpm.

Anything higher than 4.8 and I'd reckon the Taffy pipe would be the choice.
