Seen this twice within last year.

Both times was the front sprocket coming loose.

So when high pressure exterted on chain, the front sprocket just turns round.

Bet when you open up you will find inside of crankcase been rubbing on top of front drive cush.

Usually caused by using Indian seperate bolt and washer to retain drive cush.

Replace with MBD stainless single piece one and I bet its OK then.

You might also just need to check the cup on top of froint drive cush, its likley its corners are knackered, and hard to fit over next time. Either replace (about £5), or gently file and check for a good fit before putting back in engine

Hope this all makes sense if not just respond and will try and explain further

Good luck !

There is a slight chance of twisting the crank if you use a flywheel holding tool, as suggested, better to use a clutch holding tool....hope it's not too late :?

Badly worn sprocket was the culprit
