Jockeys rear brake, need some help please?

Anything related to Lambrettas... ask tech questions, post helpful info, or just read and learn.

I have another cam I can take down a mm or two. And I use the belt sandpaper when sanding the shoes so it should be even.

When fitting ours for the race, I filed both sides of the shoes down a little. The hub will tell you exactly what place is rubbing as you will see a lightly scuffed area on the shoe once you take the hub off. Get the file on the vise, and file it down very carefully. You are ready for the game then.

Also, when fitting that hub, make sure the tight fit is not actually the tire being squeezed against the engine prop stand you are using to elevate the rear of the bike!

I just installed the Jockeys rear brake. It works great. My only concern is the thin kidney-shaped plate where the new pivot post screws into. I think this portion of the adapter plate needs to be strengthened. It is very thin, and there are not many threads for an area that accepts so much force. There is room underneath for more metal or perhaps a nut to be welded to the plate.

On the kit I installed the threads seemed pretty weak to begin with.

Despite these concerns, I can now lock my rear wheel :)

I fitted one a while ago and have just had my Scoot MOT'd. The guy who did the test said it was 'the best Lambretta brake he'd ever tested'. I'm very happy with it, well worth a little bit of fettling IMHO.

Some of the shops in the ol' knacker bike world have a machine for trueing up brake shoes and adjusting to the size of the drum. No high spots, no out of round.
