What he said. Is it revving out ok in gears 1,2 and 3?
yes it revs out fine in 1,2,3
What could I change to improve things? I'm not trying to hijack this thread but any advice would be great.
no problems Pete. more info is always good.
one more question. How do i stretch a chain? I want to throw a 47 crown on the back and see if that'll make a difference.

Long story but I geared it to 5.0 and fitted a JL3 and it killed the performance. Before big inclines and headwinds were never a problem, after they were and was always dropping down to 3rd. It was TV rodded too which made it super smooth.
After holing the piston I rebuild it with GP200 box [5.2] as I'd used the g/box for another engine and stuck an AF clubman on it to run it in. Crashed it after about 500 miles so it's not being used at the minute. Prob use an ADS race when I put it back into use.
That's interesting, as this is exactlly what my Imola does. In 1st, 2nd and 3rd it flies, but put it in 4th it hits a wall and dies. It's running a 30mm Delly, JL3 / Franspeed pipe, Italian LI150 box with 16/47 sprockets. This gives a drive of 5.0 if I'm not mistaken. As I said really nice in all gears except 4th. My imola ran out of gear before it ran out of power, LI150 box 15/46 on a curly pipe, when I put it back in the bike I'll be trying a 16 /17 front sprocket.

I've just shelled out on an AF 47 tooth clutch! How can I keep that and run a 15 front sprocket? Could I use the adjustable chain tensioner? Pete

Yes, with an 81 link chain.
