Yeah! What have the Indians ever done for Lambretta?

Apart from continue production of GPs for nearly 20 years after the Italians gave up and continuing to provide cheap spares for our superannuated mopeds that keep most of us on the road nearly half a century after they were made. I mean apart from that, obviously.

I've also had some cheap Indian speedo's that work fine and checked against my iphone speedo ap. The worm drives have always been OK and that's what I believe can make a difference.

The speedo I'm using was from either Cam-Lam or MB, so I assume will be one of the better quality ones out there. I've ordered one of the SIP units direct from them now (none in stock at Cam-Lam). I just hope I can fit it properly now. Cheers all.

Having been through a couple of 'good quality' speedos, replaced all of the drive gear several times I finally gave up and bought the SIP dgital unit.

If you rely entirely on their fittiing instructions and nothing else you will have a very frustrating time getting the unit to work but if you either do without the cylinder head temperature sensor (which wont fit without Dremelling the cylinder head fins) or use a resistor spark plug it will work perfectly and if you get the extra parts for the digital speedo to work off a magnet and pickup you can get a very accurate speedo-mine matches GPS to the exact MPH and is always spot on with the big roadside displays.

For a bit of work these are well worthwhile.

Ok, I've received my speedo from SIP, I'm now worried that it may not function properly, due to the speedo drive being at fault. Although the needle bounced about like mad, the miles were still clocking up as normal. Does this mean the drive is ok, and will function properly with a decent speedo? Cheers all.

Mine are broken! My TS speedo reads up to about 80 but my lamys in the 1980s did 90! Must be the new fuel

If the miles were clocking up accurately then the drive is probably ok.
