I can only speak from upgrading from a pm 25 to franny race, the difference is scary tbh, the power comes on much quicker and is raw power in the extreme and completely transformed my tt3 to a real wailing banshee (ts like) but I feel with a longer spread of power, you do have to chase it into the powerband which does make for frustrating town riding but once on the open road it looks after itself tbh.

Coming to work this morning was a delight down the bypass that exits Hull, no traffic and dual carriageway

The race is sounding like the people's choice?
What gearbox/sprockets/final drive are you running?

With the TT3 and a Taffy rep you should be able to run something like 4.6 no problem??

I'm running a Franspeed Tourer on my TT3 with 4:6 gearing. I can drop it into 4th at 40mph and it pulls all the way up to 60mph (all on GPS) with ease. Not sure on the rev's at 60 but i know it could do more. Never really tried a full out - go for it-top speed but i've had 76mph on the gps.

Whoops.....that should have read 40 to 60 in 3rd and it's 76 in 4th

I now run the Supertourer on my TT3, having previously run it on Avanti Clubman, RS Clubman, JL3 and MSC Micron. The Supertourer still manages to pull 4.8 4th ratio with ease and has a very good/wide spread of power. I've ridden Ron's demonstrator with the Fran Race on and it really is a beast, although not ideal for touring IMO.

If you do look to go Fran Race then drop Ron a line (or phone) to ask him what setup he has in his, as I am aware that he tried various gear combinations to get the best out of that setup. If not, you could find that you have a motor that only pulls 4th under the right conditions and limits you to screaming in 3rd at other times.

just checked the gearing calculator and with gears i'm running 3rd gear 61mph = 7000revs and 4th gear at 77mph = 7000 revs

I'ld say i can get the 7k rev band comfortably but then it's a slow ascent to it's maximum :)

Ive been really suprised Adam by the fact my race almost turns to tour when cruising @ 60 with very little throttle action indeed (approx 1/4 ) Rons biggest throttle position fear ! It rolls on very nice from 40mph in 4th since the 122 main was introduced, 4.6 from memory (Dans domain) I just find in slow moving traffic ie from lights it wants to be away and you can quite easily find yourself tailgating very quick  woe boy

^... yep, I did find that Ron's, with the Fran Race, was actually very good from low revs, however, it is at high revs where the pipe really comes into it's own, which saw me wanting to scream it everywhere. Likewise, I found myself wanting to be outside lane and going past everything... well nearly everything! I think that this would have been quite different though 2-up or with rally luggage.

Good fun though.

I should take time to support what Drunkmunkey has said above though, that top speed with a Taffy pipe can easily be improved by fitting longer gearing, which the Taffy pipe should have no problem pulling.

Fully loaded with rally gear 1 up does tame it a bit tbh Adam, and yes your right it does have that outside lane yearning when the pipe kicks in  funny as when you fly past cars and they take a double look lol.

Thanks for the replies the taffy rep is very battered, I didn't put the engine together but I'm pretty sure it's running SX200 gears 4.8? I don't do rallies these days but do ride two up a fair bit. Hence the dented pipe. Have only done just over 500 miles on the kit so have not really given it a proper trash at speed but it revs very well and pulls like a train.

Something I've always wanted is a torque scooter that will pull 60 in 3rd and sit at 70 less wife. I'm likening the sound of race, I go out of my way to avoid traffic Ron said it will run ether pipe but reckoned the super-tourer would be his choice. I'm bad at making decisions :?:
