I like Wellseal on anything with a gasket but don't you find it a bit thin and messy on the head

I prefer hylomer blue on the top of the barrel just because it a bit more controllable but in all honesty i think it's much of a muchness...

I note in sticky's book that MB uses loctite but the pictured tube which is being used is a bearing retainer??????

it is retainer, i have been using the same method. i think im prefering plain cylicone from bandq now though as ive now seen how solid it was on a head i recently took of. nothing was ever getting through that.

the drawback with car gasket sealer is that there is an addative that makes it easy to remove. diy cylicone does not have it so its like s**t to a blanket and needs to be cut off and removed with a chemical. pain in the ass but better than the hole in the piston i have from the leaking gasket
