How can a flywheel with signs of being used be NOS. There's so much abuse of this term now! it means New (as insold and unused) old stock.

Sorry, but where do you see that this flywheel is used?
There are a lot of New Old Stock, and in different conditions. Obviously a NOS item with box and in a room in the best conditions 30 years is a very good NOS item, but generally i see here, in Eibar, too much NOS items that didnt have the best life in the best conditions, but they still have the NOS condition ;) .
Cheers.

You can see the marks where it's been tightened on to a crank. Can't be new can it?

of course it can be new, what about if the engine was never run? its still unused then, and therefore 'new'

You've got the flywheel with the ring gear fitted, now you need a starter motor that will mesh with the ring gear correctly (and fit under and to a mag housing). Mag housing would need to be strengthened where the starter motor is going to fit and drilled correctly to line it all up. No one seems to know which make/manufacturer Lambretta intended using for the starter motor, but you could try a V"*%a one. There seem to be plenty of the original mag housings around that were already drilled for a starter, but don't know whether you would find a starter that would fit the existing hole and line up with the ring gear or not. After all that, it's simply a big enough battery to turn over the engine, a relay, switch and a simple bit of wiring.

Easy as that  ;)

Ive got an original unused Electric start Mag housing, that I bought from Mike Pheonix (at the run to the hills) a few years ago....It was bolted to a brand new looking Spanish engine case in an unused condition......I was lead to believe a few of these came into the country through Bedlams Scooters, some time around 1999-2000.....I can try and take a couple of decent photos of my mag housing and put them on here if you want....as I said in another post.... my mate has an electric start fitted to his and I can try and get a better photo to show the starter and how it fits....
