There was a guy on Dragon's Den a while back who had a process for gold plating virtually anything and he cropped up again on the Sarah Beany house restoration series gold plating bath taps - quick on-site process - will it do silvering I wonder?

Looks good. It's got to reflect more light hasn't it? It's interesting to note the difference between that and a near perfect original reflector I have here. The images in the chromed reflector are more distinct while you'd be hard pressed to make anything out on a silvered one. Is that good or not? I don't know.

I think considering the age of the reflectors and chipped, scratched and old design of the glass itself, I'd be surprised if it made any difference. Incidentally, the silvering process used is also used when making a mirror.

For all intents and purposes you're right and it's the way I'm going to go I think. For all the difference it might make it's just not worth it.
