Mine is about 15mm deep at the inlet port end going down to about 8-10mm at the barrel end.

On a purely practicle/sensible level I could have easily bought TS1 kit for what I have spent on my Indian ally barrels over the last 2 years but I wouldn't have learnt as much and I daresay I would still have gone through some pistons and or paid for some dyno time on top :?
