I did Kelso, iow, Scarborough, brid, clee ( i live there!!) and alot of other club weekend dos. My crank seized up on the way back from Kelso, Incorrectly geared. Hasn't given me any trouble once I had it set up right, keep it revving that's the secret.
Hi mate,

Thanks for the feedback, especially the info on your RB22 kit, which sounds well sorted :)

Just wondered what exhaust pipe you are using with this kit, as that is another area I need to explore?

Cheers, Tom :)

I run a mildly tuned ;) Rb22 in my sprinter
I did over 100 quarter mile runs last year with no problems. I seized it only once, (my own fault) and that happened on a short test run round the block

I started with a rb22 rather than a rb25 because it was thought there might be a bit more meat to have a play with porting, at the time there was also talk of the rb25 looking scary thin around spigots and barrel studs in places, but I'm not sure if this is really an issue anymore or not.

I've had no problems with the RB, very fast, very reliable and suprisingly nice to ride on the road.

(BTW I use an ADS6 exhaust)

Franspeed race, I tried the adspeed race not the fast road one and it was revvy. But at the time I fell in to the over gearing trap and sold it thinking it was a bad exhaust. it wasnt I had just overgeared the engine, 4.7 ish which I lowered to 4.8 still to high, but not before I changed the exhaust to the franspeed race, thats when my crank big end seized 20 miles from home coming back from kelso, which Im convinced was due to overgearing. Lowered the gearing to std gp 200 and it was spot on, great fun. now ive had it ported and bored and im still gonna kepp it revvy. its loads of fun easy to ride and I think reliable, instant power. Ive not dynoed it I prefer to let it perform on the road, Ive hammered it on the motorway at around 80 mph for 8 miles or so and no problems, just the motorway ran out!! get one u wont regret it. I reckon Ive done around 4000 miles on it and apart from the crank the kits been great.

Hi Jer, I've got one of those on order - the full kit, pipe, carb, ignition etc. - but not sure how long that's going to take, so - as I have a spare 200 caseing - I'm thinking of this kit for my number 2 motor :D

So, anyone else running the RB250 kit, and would like to post some comments about it???

I know 'Bilko' on here, who used this kit, is going to post something, but as mentioned previously, I'm just surprised that there doesn't appear to be that many users of the 250 kit about, or indeed members on here who have mates who use it, who might be able to comment on their behalf?? Maybe that's wishful thinking! lol :D

I loved my RB250

It is a very exciting piece of kit, but as others had said. You must not cut any corners or scrimp on parts because the weakness will be chewed up and spat out by the RB.

One thing I found that round town wasn't great, but long roads, dual carriageway & motorways were fun.

The contents were:

LC head
AF 6 plate billet clutch
Indian GP200 box
PM Tuning Pro Street 60mm Crank
Franspeed Tourer
34mm Dellorto VHSB
47 X 18 sprockets

The AF Billet clutch is superb. I'd recommend that to anyone. Same goes with the exhaust. The crank also!

I will say that before spending the money on it all. Ask yourself how much you'll ride it and how many miles your planning on doing. I didn't and as pointed out to me by a well respected scooter mechanic. It was a lot of money to spend for what I was using it for.

I had a couple of unlucky breaks with my kit and it came to the point where I made the choice to move the RB kit on.

I did enjoy the 250, but because of the cost, I doubt I'll have another. There were people out there who didn't like the RB250, but for me it was a lot of enjoyment.

Brilliant, thanks Bilko for your thoughts and experiences of this kit! :)
