Look forward to seeing some pics of the engine (any you feel you can supply), we have lots of graphs but its nice to see what goes on inside the engine and to put some specs to it so people can relate it to the graph, gives it more meaning and helps promote discussion/sharing/learning......good stuff, cheers! ;o)

Hi Darrel I was lucky enough to have a go on the bike in question and was very impressed by the results, it was very quick but still tractable, as this was my old engine I know the tuner in question and respect your professionalism in not naming names. I look forward to having another go when the additional work is done.
cheers steve

thanks Steve
thats much appreciated comments and good feedback for me,as you say a little extra work to do ,a replate and new piston along with a further compression increase should improve again
? in your experienced opinion from the way it rides do you feel it would stand another 3 degrees of ex duration as then it would be on the same port specs as the 225 ts1 i did with higher horse power or does it feel on the brink of losing tractability although the extra half point on compression will deliver more grunt still, perhaps break the 27 torque figure.

Hi Darrell,
it would definitely stand a little more compression, think ignition is set to 22 with 5 degrees retard. Have you looked at the pump(mechanical) to see what effect that is having. Have used different reed block before which helped prop up torque over v-force 2. What about altering exhaust port now before replating so it could be welded if too extreme, it is running li150 17/47 so could be dropped if had to. Ive been looking at a carb mod which gains bottom/mid response and about 1hp over 35mm tmx if fancy doing a comparison.
cheers steve

like the idea of altering port now and was the basis behind the first tune prior to plating , the compression can be done at same time i just need to skim 0.35 off the head/recut the squish,
the other ts1 i developed performed better bhp/throttle response on the 34 than it did on the 35 and 38 but the 38 produced improved torque although it lost throttle response so was ditched, the carb mod sounds a good test and the std mikuni currently fitted is suffering the usual carb body wear problem and seems to richen up on a monthly basis so a new carb should be on the shopping list very soon

cylinder now back from replate with a bit of welding up to the ex port
with a few miles on it doing the scarborough/whitby run was now time to dyno and check out its final results
a dyno run showed its width of peak power to be improved
and the lambda showed it to be running richer at 12-1 so could have leaned off for more peak but thought better and left as is
