Unable to start series 2

It was a non runner restoration project, it's a new 185 kit that's on it. Dealer checked bore/ring gap before sale. Compression feels decent, same resistance on kick start as my Li s3 which runs. Definitely can't push it down by hand.

Running through standard s2 airbox with sh1/20 m dellorto.

Right well I'm definitey getting a spark! Thanks for clearing that one up.

have you tried disconnecting the green kill switch wire from the CDI I had exactly same issue I was convinced mine was the carb flooding. I was getting a spark but it was intermittent and obviously not strong enough to start although I could see one against the crankcase and it looked fine. Went to mike phoenix got a series 3 box and 22mm jetex set up of a GP150 and still wouldnt start plug wet etc. I rang him and he said disconnect the kill switch and hey presto first kick.
By then I'd given away a perfectly good 22mm dellorto :oops:

as said already change the plug and disconnect the green from harness out of the cdi

Tried a few plugs and disconnected green loom wire from cdi still no joy.
Tried with kill switch unplugged, no joy.

leave stator green connected and disconnect loom greenfrom cdi and squirt easystart in open carb mouth if it fires at all its a carb issue and if it dont its a electrical issue

If you want to see if it's getting a spark cut a small length of ht lead; screw one end into the suppressor cap & put a self tapper in the other end; the original ht lead that comes out of the cdi just remove the plug cap & put a self tapper in there next slide a small piece of clear petrol pipe over both bits of ht lead so that the self tap screws are in the pipe put two petrol pipe clips over the pipe this will secure one end of the ht to the pipe and then pull the other piece of ht so there is a 5 mill gap between both self tap screws at the end of each length of HT and secure with The other petrol pipe clip; kick scooter over with plug and cap replaced and a spark will be seen at the point where the clear pipe between the two self tap screws; but most scooters do respond to a good old fashioned bump start where a kick sometimes won't get it going,

Are you certain that you put the piston in the right way round? the arrow should point towards the exhaust but some cheap pistons have been known to marked wrong :?

Have you checked that the woodruff key is in place?

Arrow was pointing down on piston when fitting. So if I disregard the arrow, how do I tell which side of the piston faces the exhaust ?

Will check woodruff key again.
