speedo isnt part of the MOT test for a bike, dont even need to have one on there

I run my bikes and trikes in all weather, they also live outside a lot, the SP6 speedo and idiot light array is very good, the speedo is reliable and smooth scrolling, I dont know if the tacho will work with a 2 stroke single pot, thats all Im not sure about.

anyone that gets one, make sure you power it up and check the viewing angle, as they dont work as you might expect, viewed straight on they arent very visible, they need to be at quite an angle to be really clear.

just looked at that speedhut link, WOW thats funky, can choose all the fonts and colours, now thats what I call useful, might have to have a rethink LOL

just one thing I thought I would add, dont want to be teaching gran to suck eggs, but if anyone fits a digital speedo with magnetic pickup, try to fit 2 or 3 magnets to the wheel, then just adjust the wheel diameter setting accordingly

I run mine from the front sprocket, or off the propshaft on my trikes, so you end up with dependant on ratios 3 or 4 pulses to 1 wheel revolution, this gives a very smooth speedo, as the refresh rate is much higher, I can sit and match exactly mph for mph my speedo and my satnav sat on the fuel tank.

nothing worse than a crappy digital display that jumps about or doesnt register till you ridden a few yards etc

Very snazzy! Bit to avant garde for me tho'. Do look very similar to ones on the Motogadget website, which I found while looking for something for the guzzi. The Speedhut I came across when looking for something affordable.

the speedo is not part of the mot test at the moment... but its coming....(as is a lot of things that were not part of mot....)
since you can't check if its working or not during test i think the wording is.....if its present and obviously not functioning.
will have a look tomorrow and give more details
ps my mbd digital speedo has gone completely dead

just checked this it only affects class 3 vehicles up

Only thing that I don't like is where to put the GPS Antena.

On cars the satnav antenna can be fitted where it's convienient. I've not found that you need line of sight. So 1st try would be behind the headlamp. Usually shoving it behind the head unit works fine. Assuming reasonable sensitivity natch.

have had an email of them to say the 2" unit is to small to fit fit an odometer sadly

Speedhut gauges are a quality bit of kit.I have just fitted a speedhut clock and rev counter and had them done to my own spec and colour etc and the rev counter worked 1st time and works perfectly:






I have ordered the 'speedhut' gps speedo :




and will be replacing my existing koso one. as this is ok but dosen't always work properly and i have to keep messing around with the wheel sensor. I will keep you posted on the gps antenna position as i know with my sat nav in my van it needs to been in front screen area or it don't work properly as for fitting it in the headset i will let you know..

2 potential problems with GPS speedos would be that the Lammy headset is made of metal which will probably affect the signal and the other problem would be that your speedo will die whenever the GPS sugnal is lost, i.e. in tunnels. Haaving said that, I live with the 2nd problem already with the Garmin forrunner I'm currently using as
well as the time it sometimes takes to find a signal.

what size is that speedo and is it waterproof?
