I have a similar set up.
Mitaka TS185 piston in SR190 barrel, TV rod in GP type crank (58mm stroke)
Not top & tailed and no base packer but uses 1.2mm head gasket
Top of piston is slightly higher than ex port at BDC.
No problem according to Harry Barlow who tuned it all for me.
Inlet side of my piston is trimmed by a couple of mm though

hi all,piston is definetly same on both sides, i am probaly going to go ahead with engine build,sure it will be fine ,just thinking if ideally piston was flush with bottom of exhaust port it might release a few more gee gee's,put it down to the vagaries of indian engineering,cheers all.
