other projects took over;

Image
and current daily money pit

Image

but son dragged out boxes every now and then and eventually doesnt bother waiting for me-he starts where we did;

with aid of stickys (in my day we had the little ring bound lambretta manual which fell apart-)

Image

we mocked up a few ideas as he went !

Image

remarkably, despite the piston being seized solid in the old 1979 serveta engine, we bought a rough (very rough cast off ebay) 185 barrell and piston kit (well you have to go bigger dont you) and i spent some time porting it; bolted it on and proceeded to push it up and down the road all evening (ide cut of the kickstart back in the day) bloody thing only went and ran!
one of the best days of my life thanks to my boy.
clutch soon seized on despite me soaking it for week or two-but it sorted itself and its good for a last up and down the road once a week. even bolted on the carb without setting up-although the tap was gunked up a bit after 30 yrs in a box!

using just the bits in the garage he came up with this

Image

then my best mate died all of a sudden, he had restored this
Image

and then more recently a red and white serveta which his missis still has and was about to do this;
Image
and that spurred me on a bit!

weve mucked about with various versions of cut down but now headed toward panels back-which is tricky as i had cut off everything

ive toyed with the dream of full 80s metalflake slim style
Image

but keeping to a budget we are heading toward a s2/s3 hybrid;
i love this

Image

my loop is soooo cut down and ive been trawling the ads for a s3 loop and carbon f/glass versions etc to no avail
had a chat with frank at lam innovations (what a nice guy) and come up with a plan to use a f/glass s2 loop on a new framework as he has done for others/auto conversions, but with s3 front end

so ive sourced some rough/old legshields/good mudguard/headset and looking out for s2 rear boards and side panels then its off up to frank to get some framework welded on-cant wait

ps, if anyone has old s2 side panels/rear boards?..........pls get in touch-cheers
loving the forum

if you are fitting series 3 leggies to yours then you will need series 3 rear runners are the s1/2 ones wont match up and will need to close the gap in the side panels also

ok, thanks for pics and i will bare in mind your offer-cheers (have dave webster 1980s rear set also)
frank said the same thing about the runners but i was wondering if its just the width difference?
was thinking maybe the runners could be cut and shaped at the front if legshields are narrower
was about to post for some dimensions from someone

i just quite like the s2 runner shape and it matches the panels

the f/glass panels are the cheapest option but again wondering if that asking for trouble having all that plastic????

thanks for feedback though-lovin these forums :biggrin:

just the edge is far more square ..a bit of 4mm rod welded to the edge would help but good rear runners are a bit steep on ebay to go cutting ,try extending series 3

btw ...did you see the link above the orange scoot ??
