only use Champions , but not as easy to get at dealers , so when i see some i always buy a couple

Have been instructing my customers to use Champion since day one. The electrode protrudes a little further into the combustion chamber. They are also what I see recommended in al the tech books from the 50/60/70's etc.
Same thing here with the dealers, all they want to sell is NGK's.
The problem comes when changing between NGK and Champion, ie I know an N3 is a cold Champion plug, but the number go the other way with NGK, so an 8 is is cold plug,(the no.s go bigger when colder, just one more thing to have to remember). Add that to the fact that when you go to an automotive place to buy a plug, the desk person may cross reference across the wrong lin in the book and thereby the customer might end up with the wrong plug and bam! heat sieze.
Stick with the one, the only one, Champion...
Yes N3 is the same as B8
A quick tip, the numbers add up to 11 so if you use an NGK B7 the champion equivalent is N4. Therefore B9 = N2 etc

Just as a guide, i use Nippon Denso 27 [which is a NGK 9] in my RB and would in any engine thats run hard, i even used a 31 for a while to see if it oil,d up at low speed, which it didnt. In my Mugello i use a Denso 24, same as a NGK 8.

I bought a batch of 5 NGK B9's and had 2 go in quick succession low speed en masse riding from ferry to campsite in Holland, resulting in engine dying in front of a truck and then 2nd time losing everybody completely...I still have 3 unused ones. Gone off them!
But I also bought a couple of cheap Champion N3's from Rufforth and the threads were shizer!
Had been using Nippon Denso since then.

I've used ngk's in all my scooters and bikes over the last 30 years and only had 2 faulty ones, not sure if it makes any difference in where you and your dealer get them from, but I always avoid cheap deals on them.
