Thanks for all your comments thus far Gentlemen. I am going to strip the clutch AGAIN later today and soak the plates until Saturday morning, if I still get no joy i'm going to give up and sell my scoot, im pissed off with spending good money on crap parts.

I didnt have to soak my af clutch, neither did my mates who fitted them. Daft question are u sure the clutch cable is adjusted enough to pull the plates in??? Id speak to Ben at AFs and see if they have any ideas, sure it'll work out fine.

I have one on the sprinter, (slightly modified ). In their defence I've found it to be a very very good clutch and easy to fit.
You don't need to soak the plates. It says so in the instructions.

I wouldn't be worried about separating the plates, i'd doubt you'd even see them separate anyway, I would concentrate on getting a some feel on the lever so you can feel the springs going in and out. You should be able to tell if its working by pressing down kickstart or pushing in gear while clutch is in.

What side casing have you got? GP with the brass clutch bush I hope?

The only issues I've had are;
- you need to ensure the cable is adjusted very slack, compared to what your used to, or it will slip
- In some cases you need to ensure it doesn't catch on the back of the kickstart, or it will slip

I'd give AF a ring if your still struggling.

That's the thing even with the clutch pulled in the kickstart does not disengage, what could be the cause of that? It seems as if the clutch is not working at all because as soon as i try to engage any gear it jumps foward and stalls. It is a GP side casing and the unit came with no instructions included ( bought from Mike Phoenix ) cheers for your comments so far.

well there are only two options, its either a faulty unit or you f@@ked up the fitting!!! lol

Is your side casing Li type with nipple on teh pressure plate, or GP with brass plunger? In either case, make sure they are fitted correctly (not put plunger in worong way, or left nipple out etc), check your kickstart shaft isnt fouling, and check your cables are adjusted correctly.

After that, just ring Mike Phoenix and discuss. Im sure he will help.

If he is local, you might be able to take scooter in for him to check the fitting, or he might ask you to send the unit back for inspection......so either way, its no drama.

There is an a4 sheet with brief instructions, don;t have one handy but I wouldn't worry too much, there is not much on it anyway.
If you have the brass plunger in right way, have remembered to put the spinny pressure plate thing on clutch and adjusted your cable up, you should be able the feel the springs moving in and out and 'go over' on the lever. The cassette can be split easily and you can get the plates out by un-doing the allen keys, but they are feckin' tight and you should;t need to.
Sounds weird, I would give Ben a ring at AF first.

I didn't soak the plates. I was advised not to.
