yep, checking the piston and barrel over before fitting, both rings would've popped out and probably snagged on the exhaust port. the cutouts on the skirt also indicated that the arrow was pointing to the inlet side... ffs...like it's not enough hassle making bits fit without being led astray...
does make me wonder when there are posts with top end issues, and it is suggested that the piston could be in wrong, which is replied with "the arrow is pointing to the exhaust port....", maybe it shouldn't be...
I fitted the piston [with the arrow pointing to the inlet], and rode the scooter, all is fine.
