If the CDI is firing at 23 / 24 degrees without the augusto fitted, it can only be the augusto that is retarding it to 18. What was the problem that made you think the other CDI was faulty?

Well as the saying goes, "when you have elimated the obvious, what remains, no matter how unlikely is likely to be the truth"

You may have the first reported failed Augusto unit :o Allthough, they have always maintained that they wouyld fail completely rather than anything else :?

Do you know anyone else with an Augusto you can try?

Just another thought, you have connected the unit correctly i.e. in series with the red pickup wire?

I would have thought if this was wrong it wouldn't run at all as the SCR would get no pulse.
As I said previously, I can only see it being the augusto at fault as it is fully delaying the pulse at all times instead of only at higher revs.

I changed the cdi as the engine stopped running due to no spark and was advised it may be the cdi. It turned out to be just the spark plug  Anyway other than the cdi it's all the same electrical wise and the agusto is connected the same way as before. I'm at a loss now.

So, if all you've done is change the CDI, I take it that the strobing at 23 -24 degrees was done on the initial fitting of the augusto?
If so, have you taken off the augusto and rechecked this to make sure that is still the case?

Ok, a mate off mine as ordered a unit for his own bike, it should be with him today. We are going to fit it to mine first to see what happens. Thanks for your time and comments thus far. Pete
