This is how I finished mine off, though you can see I had to trim the side of the legshields. Note the loop at the end of the stand to help you kick it down.

The Abarth has a side stand on the RHS with a tube welded between the struts just as Byron's photo.

I see it always has a block under the stand, is this just to display it better from both sides?...

Any signs of flexing or splits after long term use? Any other tips to do this on a full frame/full width Series 2 struts?

yes the blocks under the stand at shows is just to put the scoot more vertical and more visable so that both sides can be seen more clearly .
cut downs suffer from far less leverage and stress as opposed to std width struts ...but those can be braced up by putting a connecting bar or rod from the RHS to the LHS and so spreading the load .
