Have a VERY good look with a magnifying glass to see if there are any corresponding marks diagonally opposite. Might be faint as any engineer worth his salt would have used soft jaws or a cloth but there might be some telltale signs. I personally can't see how he would have caused that damage with a tight fitting crankcase, there would be visible scuff marks on the spigot and the casing.
Repair wise it may well be terminal but it might be worth contacting Tino.

Wouldn't be surprised if Aptech could sort that out but would need a replate.

Cheers Diablo, just rang and spoke to them very helpful chaps but they said given the damage and how thin the spigots are on it it would likely distort and or fall apart when attempting to weld it

So looks like a non starter :-/

Just thought I may as well try lancourts and found a bit on their site where they dont reweld broken spigots but build up new weld instead then remachine, rebore then replate so ive emailed them the pics just to be clear whether or not its actually doable

Pics remind me of dear Lozmondo. It was one of the first parts fairs at Kettering after it moved from Mkt Harborough. Mr Dalton was looking for a donor TS1 barrel for an engine MB were going to build for him. In his defence it was a bit dark in the hall but Loz found a barrel and bought it over. "Did you notice half the spigot is missing?" said Broady?
It was welded up and bored out and replated and is still going strong as far as I know.
