Do the following:
1- Remove the dust protection cup (and lower bearing track).
2- Refit bearing track
3- Fit fork race & greased cage
4- Fit the spacer ring
5- Gently sit the mudguard & clamp on the spacer ring
6- Acomodate the fork in place but dont tight it yet.
7- Time to locate the front mudguard
8- Find a set of bolts that will be discrete on the mudguard. Originals where phillips headed, now I find that the flat heads are far easier to fit.
9- Tighten the mudguard and do the upper steering cone.

When you come to fit the forks / mudguard for real don't forget to thread the speedo inner (the wrong way round / upside down) in place before you bolt the mudguard inner in place ... otherwise it can be a right pain in the ass. The front brake cable isn't so tricky as it simply fits into the external hole on the mudguard, from under the horncast. I've always thought that an hydraulic hose routed outside the panelwork straight from the handlebar down thru this hole, (ala Group 4 race scoot) would look very trick.
I'm also inclined to side with Bofs, in that the race mount itself looks odd, and yours has a step some 5-10 mm down from the lip ..why is that? Hs it still got an old inner ring on it, or did the recess fit the extra depth of the original dust cover?? Intriguing ..well to me anyways

im i correct that the collar on the forks is the same size as the frame tube??

Have you a recently butchered frame and need to make up a collar??? I'll measure the ID and ODs of the collar and get back to you.
