The easiest way to fit bridgeport valves is to chop out enough of the centre section,the part of the rim that bolts to the hub.The valve then doesn't touch anything.

I found the same thing when I changed a worn out tyre recently. Nothing short of mole-grips and a lot of brute force would have pulled it out. That said, a mate pulled one out with his fingers and so who knows.
