this is a real word reply, g/eye...i had to file me stator plate slots to get the 6000 set right, so the augusta is fully retarded at half throttle 18-19deg-60mph for me and onto full throttle at 18-19deg, you don,t want the agusta to fully retard at full throttle because you,ll be advanced right through ye throttle, do you get me! so to get the augusta to fully retard at half throttle you have to advance your stator more/the 6000 as the most retard of the three 10-11 possibly 12degrees

I understand the theory behind variable timing as i have one (agusto 6000) on my lammy.
Surely 31 degrees advance even at low revs is pretty dangerous! Excess heat and all that!
The way i understand it is the higher revving your motor is the higher agusto box you should choose. For example my lammy tops out at about 7500 revs so you fit an agusto 6000 to fully retard at 6000 revs therefore giving a retard of about 7-8 degrees.
If your motor revs out at say 8500 you choose the 7000 agusto and again it gives you 7-8 degrees of retard.
Thats why the 8000 agustos are generally recommended for super high revving motors!
If your starting at 31 degrees i would say you should try 7000 or 8000 models as 31 degrees is going to surely go bang when holding on at low revs! have you got your calculations right?
Not out to offend, just my opinion and trying to help.

when the weather gets better g/eye, i,d love to to have a go of ye scoot, did ye go the staincliffe?....
to some degree nelson pk your right, but the
6000 = 10-11-12 degrees and retards fast - for standard-mild tune
7000 = 7-8 degrees and retard slower - for kits
8000 = 4-6 degrees and retards very slow - for race specs
nobody,s out to offend, we all have an opinion and a preference to how we set engines up, and how we use these takle fanny gadgets, it does,nt bother me if i pop a piston, this is how ye learn! but i won,t on how this engines setup it,s right, tried and tested, but to be honest the exhaust ports a bit high, but yet again when i can be arsed i,ll change and try a different tune....bit of topic but blah blah!!
i,ll put a pic up of were my stator is...
cud be wrong with me figures, but it,s a long way past 23deg

Very wise words mate.....yep, we are all learning about these new gadgets and sometimes we do learn the hard way!
I have found that certainly on lammys some electronic set ups dont work very well with the agusto's. For example i tried an af flywheel with it and when i strobed it the timing was going all over the place!
I guess it could have been a knackered flywheel or it could be the fact that the agusto's react differently with differing flywheels/stators/cdi units.
I do know for a fact that you need a ducati cdi with the agusto as the others just fail or don't work properly with it.

yeah gadge , was at staincliffe, always support the A 19"s. so ive got everything from 31 to 12 degrees so far! none the wiser so far to be honest. no disrespect to anyone, but theres no way i"m setting a 2 grand engine at 31 degrees, for it to go bang.
