Can you post a picture of a plate against a typical lambretta plate to compare the actual surface areas....?
Cheers Adam.
heres the size adam , my mate works for ap braking but used to work in there rd clutch dept , apparently lambretta plates are fundimently flawed due to both design , use of steel instead of alloy and the amount of tabs also has an effect on how it works , well thats what he tells me anyway !!!!

Yeah, the packing plate thing is a bonus, I think Richard was aiming at higher bhp/track bikes with 7 plates.
Yours looks good tho'.

Clutches are something I've never really looked into to be honest. I fitted my present one and its been spot on.
As you say I use ally plates with a decent compound. Combined with a proper oil and no issues.
Increase in tabs can only be a good thing but one thing that stares me in the face here is the actual surface area of the plates. Surely less surface area means less material to hold the power? Had looked at a kit for the smallframe which used bike plates but had the same thoughts..........What HP does the bike theyre out of have and how many plates as standard?
All in all looks a good improvement over standard for sure.

in restricted form it puts out 14.9bhp and unrestricted 31-33bhp and thats with std plates so will cope with at lest 40 bhp if you consider aprillia would put in a safety factor of 20% min to stop warranty issues.
there are 6 plates in a std 125
