POLINI SQUISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
True but lets face it they are one of the most reliable motors out there. In std form especially rallys and mk1s they do exactly what they were designed to do. It would be ace wouldn't it to chat to the piaggio engineers and ask them why they did this or that.

Always stumped me why the p2's have such high squish as well ....but they run fine ....which leads me to lean towards asking why everyone gets hung up on squish? I know the benefits ( as said on here better cooling , power etc.) but again i know of lambretta engines ts1's etc running 2mm and above and they run fine as well
By the way i always build my engines with around 1.2mm if poss. Am i wasting my time i wonder

i,m pretty sure they designed them that way to be plodders for sure...not great on power or performance but able to plod on forever...at about 10BHP....60 MPH max....

SO COULD SOMEONE GET ME THE PHONE NUMBER OF THE HEAD ENGINEER ON SQUISH AT THE PIAGGIO FACTORY
(and a translator)
Like i say i want to keep the base gasket as the casings are ported and not alot of beef left in that area, otherwise taking out that gasket would be thE easy option losing .5mm would bring it down to 1.4/1.5 so will just pull in another favour from my mate in the engineering shop I,LL TAKE .5 OF THE CYLINDER TOP (easiest way out)
ps . still cant understand the P2 set-up!!!!!or pinasco 213,,, here we say BIG DEAL,,,,in italy they must say BIG SQUISH

Which they do very well. How often does a standard P2 go wrong? I'm just not sure that I can put up with a cruising speed of 50mph and a lot less if the wind is in the wrong direction. thing is, ive put a p200 to 2mm squish (from 3.5mm!) and widened the exhaust port, and still ran 23* timing, with a sito plus ,and T5 fourth gear, and DOWN jetted to 114, and ran that like that for two re-bores worth of miles, and it went really well. used to load it up with luggage (i mean LOADSA luggage, front and backracks, rucksack on the floor on the bag hook, and twos up, probly forty five stone on it ) and it just pulled . when it got up to speed, it just sat there, and going up hills wasnt a problem. went off the clock (i know, they are fixed and all that.....) everywhere. did the lammy club C2C on it in 2003 , and i was 5th back. only fifty people did it then mind. P200"s standard, are what most lammy owners are after engine wise. reliable, tourquey, good mpg, and good turn of speed . the only down side is the tall fourth gear.
